GUS THE GREAT (2) has found the line with purpose at both runs this prep, the latest eight days ago when he chased a smart one in Providence home over 1350m at Wyong. Cherry ripe now and looks nicely placed to open the account. NORDIC VIKING (1) is back after a four-month spell. Closed last prep with a couple of decent efforts at stakes level. Now a gelding and he won a recent Canterbury trial so he will probably go to a new level this time in work. ALPHARD (4) raced handy and did a fair job to finish third when resuming over 1250m at Canterbury recently. Lacked zip that evening so this longer journey should suit. Likely improver. SARAPO (3) resumes. Run off his legs over 1250m first-up last prep so this looks a far more suitable way to launch the campaign. RATIFY (7) is a market watch returning from a short spell with blinkers on for the first time.

Not a great deal of depth to this so he gets his chance.
