After a couple of third placings, including one when beaten less than two lengths by Autumn Boy, he's won a couple of jumpouts ahead of the return and has not looked to be fully extended in either. Drawn nicely and gets a good chance to break through. GATTINO VELOCE (7) was adequate first-up then only narrowly beaten last time when dropping back to 1000m. Stays at that trip here and has a fitness edge on a few key rivals. ILUSTRIOUS WARRIOR (2) is a fascinating runner coming across from SA after winning three trials this time in. There were no doubt much easier debut options closer to home, so the fact he's here suggests the stable has some raps on him. Meech on from the inside alley helps. ANYWAYS (4) was a sharp improver second-up and should be ready to peak. CLASSY SASSY (5) looked good clearing out in a recent trial win.
