Townsville Race 4

Cowboys Leagues Club Hcp

Prize Money: $21,000

OUTBACK ACTION (1) gets the nod on the strength of his Bowen second, where he charged from well back and missed by a nose, then last start made ground after being slow away at Emerald. Weight relief and the first-time blinkers mean he can go a bold race. TIME TO PROPHET (3) brings the winning form after holding out OUTBACK ACTION at Bowen and is already proven at this track and trip, with the 3kg claim another useful factor. TURN BIRD (2) is in career-best touch, winning here before missing by a nose on soft ground last start. Has claims. HARTSHORN (4) is the specialist angle, with two wins and three placings from six starts at this track and distance. In the mix.

Slowly away at Emerald last start, he settled rearward and still picked up nicely when fourth behind Mississippi Morn, beaten four and a half lengths. The run prior is the stronger pointer, storming home from well back to miss Time To Prophet by a nose at Bowen. Weight relief and 1000m form make him the one to beat.

Built on his win at this venue when beaten a nose by Northern Pride over 1400m here last start, with the market allowing generous odds again. He had beaten Aged Care over 1200m the run prior and also holds a recent edge over Outback Action. Back to 1000m with Ryan Wiggins booked; a genuine place hope.

Won narrowly at Bowen last start, sitting just off the lead before holding out Outback Action by a nose over 1200m. She had been close enough in fifth behind Turn Bird at this venue before that, beaten just under two lengths on soft ground. Track-and-trip record keeps her in the mix.

Led in Quality grade at Ewan last week but could not finish it off, running fourth behind Yes Dream and beaten four and a half lengths after being well found in an open market. His previous run at this venue was much better, giving a big sight before Master Montaro nailed him on the line. Strong track-and-trip record gives him each-way claims if he sees it out.

Resumes after two months off following a tenth in a Benchmark 65 at this venue, where he was big odds and worked home evenly without a clear excuse. He had also been unwanted when ninth in a Benchmark 65 here the run prior. Weight drop helps, but sharper form is required.

Placed at Atherton last start in a Benchmark 65, but the margin was still six and a half lengths and this is harder company than that picnic assignment. Two back at Cairns, he was slow away and made ground without threatening at long odds in a Benchmark 60. Track-and-trip record is the main saving point.
