Belmont Park Race 8

Champagne S. Stakes

Prize Money: $718,391

U. S. S. VALOR (5) was less than a length from the winner in third at Saratoga (Dirt) on debut before showing the benefit of that race experience when an impressive winner over 1408m at Saratoga last start. Capable of further improvement and can go on with the job. RAKU (2) was thereabouts last time out when second in Listed grade at Monmouth Park (Dirt) over 1609m, beaten 0.1 lengths. That run should have him rock-hard fit now. Hard to beat. GAUDREAU (3) impressed when successful as favourite on debut over 1308m at Saratoga (Dirt) eight weeks ago. Will come on following that run and looks a definite threat. CLUB REIGN (4) raced on the pace over 1207m at Saratoga (Dirt) on debut last start and went on to win by 6 lengths. Do not underestimate. Comes here off a 37-day let-up. Most recently 5th of 8 in Listed grade at Saratoga Turf at Saratoga Turf on August 27 over 1106m, 7 len behind Wood Island with 55.5kg at $32.59. The run before that won by 2.5 len at Monmouth Park on August 9 over 1207m defeating Six Stitches with 54.5kg at $4.60. Doesn't look good enough to threaten the top few.
