Balaklava Race 2

Prize Money: $25,000

FARNACE (8) has the right recent form to break through after running second at Murray Bridge, beaten a length by Czech Out, and that followed a BM64 run at Morphettville which reads well for a Maiden of this standard. She has placed three times at around 1050m and expected to be in the finish. LETHAL HARRY (6) is the key fresh element, having won a Morphettville Parks trial and coming from a stable with a sound debut record, while his family has already produced early performers over similar trips. Watch for any market moves. SCOOPED (4) resumes off a two-month freshen after tackling Saturday company on heavy ground and was close up in Class 2 grade two starts back, so his best form is clearly competitive. Worth consideration. VIA NICCOLINA (7) went close at this track last start and has placed twice around this trip, leaving her as a genuine chance if she repeats that latest effort.

Makes his debut with limited public evidence, having had one 600m trial at Murray Bdge two weeks ago. The trainer's small debut sample has produced one placing from two runners, which gives a little context, but there is no race form to measure against more exposed maidens. Low draw helps, but race experience is lacking and the market will tell the story.

Was well beaten first-up at this track, finishing sixth behind Fast Food after settling rearward and making no impression at long odds. His previous run was also plain in a Mdn at Murray Bdge, where he finished last and was beaten over 18 lengths. Looking elsewhere.

Debuts as a five-year-old with two trials behind him, the latest a fifth over 800m at Morphettville Parks. His half-relations include multiple winners, headed by Metaverse, and one sibling placed on debut, so there is enough in the background to respect. Wide draw is the query, but a placing is within reach.

Returns from a two-month freshening after finishing fourth in Saturday company at Morphettville Parks on heavy ground, beaten five and a half lengths by Super Wonder after looming into it. His previous sixth in Class 2 grade was better than it reads, beaten only a length and a half on soft going. Drawn well and brings a strong profile.

Finished fifth at this track last start, beaten five and a half lengths by Canny Miss after leading to the turn and working home evenly. Two back he was a sound third at Murray Bdge as favourite, though he covered ground and laid in late. Place claims if he builds on the Murray Bridge third.

Debuts for Richard and Chantelle Jolly after winning a 1000m trial at Morphettville Parks and earlier running second in a 600m trial at Morphettville. The stable's debut record is solid, and his half-siblings Beyond Mysti and All Too Mysti both performed well first time out. Looks the main fresh danger to the exposed form.

Comes off the right run, finishing second in a Mdn at Murray Bdge and beaten a length by Czech Out after beginning well and holding her position. That followed a BM64 assignment at Morphettville, which gives her form extra depth for this. Clearly one of the hardest to beat.
