Northam Race 2

Atc Mb Hcp (C1)

Prize Money: $30,000

FLYING IN THE WIND (6) has the strongest profile after closing off in Saturday company at Ascot last start, having already won her debut at Bunbury as an odds-on favourite. The move out of an Open into this CL1 suits, and with Pike back aboard, she gets a clear chance to reassert herself third-up. MR MELLON (5) is the main danger on exposed strength, coming through a CL3 at Ascot where he was beaten just over a length as a well-supported favourite, with his Belmont Open fourth two back also reading well. THE LUCKY CHIP (7) comes through a solid form race at this track and trip last start, with three winners coming out of it already from just 5 subsequent starters. He carries no weight again today and third-up here, he can play a role. KAT FIVE (4) resumes after eight months off with two trials behind her and enough 1400m form to run into the minor money if forward enough. FINAL CALL (2) is next best.

Returns from a five-week freshening after finishing tenth in a BM50+ over 2200m at this track, beaten just over nine lengths after beginning awkwardly and making no impression. Recent Mdn win helps, but the 1400m profile and 60kg make this a tough ask.

Resumes after five months off and has had a Lark Hill trial two weeks ago to bring him on. He ended last campaign with a seventh at Bunbury, beaten just over eight lengths after covering ground, and had earlier finished midfield at Belmont Park in a 1 Metro Win when unwanted in betting. Finds the right race to feature on resumption.

Resumes after an eight-month break with two trials behind her, including a latest third at Lark Hill. She was fourth in a Class 1 at Pinjarra Scarpside at her final run before a spell, beaten two and a half lengths after having every chance, while her previous Pinjarra third was much sharper. Last-campaign form points more to a placing than a win.

Was beaten just over a length when fifth in a Class 3 at Ascot last start, having led and worked home evenly after racing keenly. That was mid-week company and this looks an easier assignment, while his Belmont Open fourth two back behind Roger also stacks up well for a Class 1. Natural speed and recent ratings make him a major player.

Comes back from Saturday company after finishing fifth in an Open at Ascot, beaten just under four lengths, where she settled back and closed off strongly. Her Bunbury debut win in a Mdn was authoritative, scoring by just under two lengths as an odds-on favourite despite being tightened mid-race. Third-up with Pike aboard, she looks the one to beat.

Ran third at this track last start, beaten just over three lengths, despite being unwanted in the market and still well back on the turn. His previous Bunbury run was only moderate after beginning slowly and being steadied near the 400m. Win record says place claims are strongest.
