Tokyo City Keiba Race 2

1200

Prize Money: $59,049

FRENEMY (6) Finished 3rd last time at this track and having second career run. Jockey Norifumi Mikamoto rates highly aboard. Looks a suitable field and easily up to these. TOKEN RICKEY (4) Resuming after a break. Ran 3rd last start at Monbetsu and having second race start. First start for a new trainer. Likely to get back. Will go well. MEGA AIMASHITANE (1) In the money when 3rd last run at Kawasaki and will be aiming for a soft run from the draw. First race for a new trainer. Looks value and a good place bet. UZU (5) Ran 4th last start here but was a debutant last start. Shows good early pace. Likely to fill a place.

Returns from a two-month freshening after a distant third at Kawasaki, where she was beaten over 12 lengths by Up Up Up and lacked the turn of foot to make a serious challenge. Her previous run was also well held when seventh behind Siena Shangrila, beaten over 13 lengths. She has placed once from three starts, but the first look at 1200m leaves her with plenty to prove.

Comments

Finished last at this track over 1400m last start, beaten over 12 lengths by Ino De Jewel after having the job ahead and making no headway. The run prior was no better, with a tenth placing and an over 18-length defeat behind Seaman Hope. Unplaced in all five starts and also blank at this track and distance, she has to turn her form around sharply.

Was in touch early but failed to threaten when fifth at this track, beaten over 11 lengths by High Love Queen at big odds. That followed a long last behind Seaman Hope, where she faded late and was unwanted in the market. With three starts at this track and distance for no placing, she will have to lift substantially to trouble the main chances.

Returns from a three-month break after a solid debut third at Mombetsu, beaten five lengths by Queen's Family in a 12-runner field. He was only an outside chance in betting but worked home evenly enough to suggest there is upside with natural improvement. The 1200m is still untried, yet his only race effort reads well for this and he shapes as a genuine winning threat.

Started favourite on debut at this track but could only manage fourth, beaten just over eight lengths by Iide Twilight after racing right there and failing to go on with it. That market confidence suggests he was expected to show more, and the second-up run should reveal whether he can take the right step. A stronger finish would put him in the placing mix.

Made a sound debut at this track when third behind Smile Wonder over 1400m, beaten five and a half lengths after spotting them ground and passing a few late. That closing effort gives her the strongest recent profile in the field, and she has already shown she handles this venue. The 1200m is a fresh test, but race experience and upside make her the runner they have to beat.

Was only fair through the line when seventh at this track last start, beaten just over eight lengths by Ino De Jewel. Two back he led and worked home evenly for fourth behind Will On The Move, also beaten eight and a half lengths, so the form is serviceable rather than compelling. First try at 1200m and still unplaced, he profiles more as a place hope than a winner.
