Kenilworth Race 6

Cape Classic (Grade 3) (3 Year-Olds)

Prize Money: $30,621

AQUAE CALIDAE (7) Resuming after a spell. Displayed potential when winning by 2L last time at Durbanville and good career start. Likely to settle back in the field. Good prospects. REEF RUNNER (1) Racing fresh today after a break. Placed 2nd last time at the track and gets the perfect barrier. Deserves consideration. RICH MAN'S WORLD (2) Won narrowly last start at Durbanville and putting a strong record together. Has shown early pace in races to date. Has a positive draw. Has the ability to take this out. RED SPICE (3) First up from a spell. Competitive effort when 3rd last start at Greyville. K De Melo rates highly aboard. Might have to make up considerable ground. Might be a trifecta chance.

Returns from a lengthy spell after closing his first campaign with a second in an Open 1200m at this track, beaten a length by Catwalk King. His debut win at this venue over 1000m was decisive, beating Navasnine by three lengths after firming in betting. The 1400m is new ground, but two starts for a win and a second gives him a sound place profile fresh.

Back from a four-month break after finishing third over 1600m at Greyville, beaten two lengths by Erik Dubois, and his prior fourth there was also full of merit when beaten just over a length. He has two wins and two places from five starts at this track, while Keagan De Melo has won twice from three rides on him. The 1400m record is not yet convincing, but his best form puts him right in the race.

Back from a four-month break after ending last campaign fourth at Greyville over 1600m, beaten just over three lengths by Erik Dubois. He had won his previous run there from Green Energy and is unbeaten from three starts around 1400m, so the distance suits. Even so, he has yet to win from three runs at this track and will have to reproduce his absolute best to trouble the main chances.

Has been honest through four starts, most recently second at Durbanville over 1250m when beaten a neck by Viva Asterix after being near the top of betting. He had won a MPLTE at the same venue the run before, beating Hey Jack Your Late by a length and a half as odds-on favourite. The consistency is clear, but stronger winning profiles oppose and he has to find another level.

Back from a five-month break after a plain sixth at Durbanville, beaten seven and a half lengths by Aquae Calidae when easy enough near the top of betting. His previous fourth at this track was also below market expectation as odds-on favourite, though he does have one win from two starts at this venue. The stable and track record help, but sharp improvement is required.

Back from a five-month break after a strong Durbanville win, beating Hero's Journey by just over two lengths as a firming favourite. He had also won at this track the start prior, putting five lengths on Another Hero after being heavily backed, and his overall record reads two wins and a placing from three starts. This is a deeper contest, but he has done little wrong and rates a genuine placing chance.
